Woolworths Cricket Blast

Cricket Blast is for children aged 5-10 of all skill levels. The objective of the program is to have them ready to play Stage 1 Cricket.

A three level curriculum has been developed. In each session there are two skill focus areas for participants, with activities relevant to these skills. Each activity will be modified to accommodate the varying skill levels of the participants in the program. During the registration process, parents can indicate the level of previous experience to help group participants into 3 levels.

Level 1: Focused on developing fundamental movement skills and social skills through play. Blasters will participate in games that help them learn foundational skills such as bowling and hitting a moving ball. Participants will spend 75% of the time in fun skill-based activities and 25% of the time playing cricket matches in small teams.

Level 2: Explore and develop basic cricket skills cricket skills. Participants develop and master basic cricket skills such as bowling with a straight arm and hitting the ball on both sides of the wicket. Participants will spend 75% of the time in fun skill-based activities and 25% of the time playing cricket matches in small teams.

Level 3: Get ready to move into junior cricket. Participants spend time practising specific cricket skills. They will spend the majority of the sessions in small, fun cricket game scenarios. Game Day Pilot Program

Given the Blast program changes this season, we are mindful of where that leaves our Master Blaster participants from last season.

They may feel that joining Blast is a step backwards in their development, but they might not be ready for Stage 1. We want to provide an option that meets their skill level, which will lead to a positive program experience.

Structure:

2x4 week program in Term 4 (November-December) and Term 1 (February-March)

This allows for greater flexibility of participants. Participants that sign up for the first program can transition into Stage 1, or choose to join the second program. It also gives a transition opportunity to participants from Level 3 Blast.

Dates: Friday 17th November - Friday 8th December

Time: Friday Afternoons 4:15pm - 5:15pm

Venue: TBC but Eastern Shore

Target Ages: 8-10 year olds
